Week 3 Devlog - Gregory


For the third week i decided to map out and white box a level 2, this level featured the unlocked ability to dash so the player could jump further, this allowed for new types of obstacles to be implemented. I developed the level with the idea of as the player progresses they learn how to use the dash differently. I first drew the general idea of the level and once i was happy with how it looked i moved to unity and started to build the level with simple shapes and basic mechanics. 

This level was created with some feedback that i received from last week play test, upon mentioning the idea of the dash i was given advice to make the level more horizontal in terms of progression so that the player wasn't moving back and forth like in the previous prototype. With this in mind the final design for this prototype featured the player jumping towards higher and lower platforms but always moving towards the right.

For the next prototype i will need to see about adding checkpoints or more player health because falling near the end and having to restart the whole level isn't a very pleasant experience.
